Parent Expectations for That Tuesday Thing (TTT)
TTT is a safe, welcoming after-school drop-in space for young people in Years 6–13 to relax, meet friends, and enjoy age-appropriate activities. Free light refreshments are available, including toast, biscuits, soft drinks, and hot drinks, alongside games consoles, a pool table, board games, craft activities, and social space. The group is run by The Vine Church and led by volunteers from local churches. TTT is not a religious group and is open to all young people. It is run by The Vine Community Church and led by volunteers from local churches While TTT is not a religious group, it is supported by Christian volunteers. A separate faith-based youth group is offered on alternate Friday evenings for those who are interested.
Safeguarding and Safety
- The Vine Centre is risk-assessed and operates a clear safeguarding policy in place. All staff and volunteers hold current DBS checks. Accidents are recorded, a first aider is available and clear group rules on respect, language, physical contact and bullying are explained, displayed and enforced.
- The group runs after school, with most young people arriving directly from school. A sign in system is in place and encouraged, though signing in is the young person’s responsibility. As a drop-in group, young people are free to come and go. Responsible adults are present inside the building, but young people are not supervised on the parade. The session ends at 5:15pm, when parents/carers are responsible for their child’s safety when leaving the building.
Wellbeing and Inclusion
- All young people are treated with respect, regardless of belief, background, or personal views. Leaders aim to model kindness, integrity, and healthy relationships and respect family values.
- Young people are listened to and supported, with leaders able to signpost further help where needed (but not replace professional support). Reasonable adjustments can be made to support additionalneeds where possible, provided these are shared in advance.
- The group is supported by Christian volunteers, and their faith may naturally shape their values and conduct. Young people are not expected to share these beliefs, and there is no pressure to take part in faith discussions, which may arise naturally at times.
